The Playhouse

"A small pink nose twitched as life filled the lungs of the small grey mouse. As she scratched at her grey coat, perplexed by it all, her nose sniffed at the stagnant air, which smelled heavily of cedar chips and mothballs. She realized the fur didn't ruffle, resembling hair; it bent like stiff, synthetic fibers under her touch. Even her long, thin tail felt unnaturally smooth, similar to a length of velvet ribbon. Panic crept into her heart. She stood trembling, feeling a strange tug at her chest—a magnetic, invisible string pulling her toward the void."

Summary:

Awakening in a dark, surreal alleyway with no memory of her past, a small grey mouse discovers a horrifying truth: she is not flesh and blood, but a toy stitched together with synthetic fibers and stuffed with polyester. Guided by a strangely intense raccoon who promises that a mysterious figure known as "The Gentleman" can fix her, she sets off through a twisting, unstable landscape.

But as fragments of a forgotten human life begin to bleed into her consciousness, the whimsical world reveals a deeply sinister underbelly. Trapped between fading memories of a lavender-scented past and a predatory present, she must discover who she truly is before the gears grind to a halt and the collection claims her forever.
